Create local delivery orders in Shopify POS

Roipas Editorial Team

Staff can create local delivery orders at checkout in Shopify POS, using the delivery zones and rates already configured for the online store.

When a customer can't take an item home, staff can arrange local delivery during the same sale in Shopify POS. The customer doesn't need to reorder online later, and staff don't need to leave a note on the order.

Set up local delivery at checkout

When shipping is added to the cart and the customer's address is in a configured delivery zone, local delivery appears alongside the other shipping rates. Staff can select it, confirm the customer's phone number, and add delivery instructions.

The delivery address and fee appear in the cart, on the receipt, and on the customer-facing display. The order can be prepared and fulfilled in POS in the same way as local delivery orders from the online store.

Staff permissions

To create local delivery orders, staff need the “Create shipping and delivery orders” permission, previously called “Ship to customer.”

The permission required to fulfill local delivery orders is now “Fulfill shipping, pickup, and delivery orders.” Its previous name was “Fulfill shipping and pickup orders.”

Local delivery can be arranged within the same Shopify POS sale using the delivery zones and rates already in place.
