New protection against unexpected redirects in Shopify stores
Shopify online stores will ask customers to confirm before sending them to a website outside the store. Customers can review the destination address, continue to the website, or return to the store.
Shopify is adding a confirmation step for redirects from online stores to other websites. The step is intended to help protect customers from unexpected redirects.
Customers can confirm before leaving the store
Before a customer goes to an external website, they see a short message with the website's address. They can continue to the site or return to the store.
Which links show the message?
The message does not appear for domains connected to the store, or for supported Shopify and social websites. It may still appear for websites owned by the merchant but not connected to the store.
With this update, customers can see the destination address and choose how to proceed before being redirected outside the store.
