Design your Shopify store in one workspace with Canvas
Shopify Canvas is a new design surface for viewing and editing store pages together in one interactive workspace.
Shopify has announced Canvas, a new workspace for designing online stores. It brings store pages together so you can view them in context, zoom in on details, and work on design elements.
View and edit store pages
Canvas places store pages in one infinite workspace. You can pan between pages, zoom in, and click an element to edit it directly.
You can also send design requests through Sidekick chat. Shopify says Sidekick’s changes appear in real time, from individual sections to store-wide redesigns.
Preview the working store
Canvas offers a preview of the working store, including interactions and animations. You can also view different products, collections, and screen sizes in the preview.
Canvas availability and support
Canvas is rolling out to existing stores. To create a new theme in Canvas or duplicate a Shopify or custom theme, go to Online Store > Themes. The original theme remains in the current theme editor.
At launch, Canvas does not support third-party themes from the Shopify Theme Store, Markets, rollouts, translations, app blocks, or app embeds. Themes edited in Canvas do not receive theme updates.
Canvas brings together options for viewing, editing, and previewing Shopify store pages in one workspace. Its initial release has the support limitations described above.
